“I realize that there are always areas for improvement, I try and do my very best, I am humble about my achievements and I don’t have unrealistic expectations of it” – Alinity Divine

What is it like being a streamer?

It is a lot of fun. The idea that I am able to share a part of myself with people around the world is incredible. I have met so many wonderful people because of my stream and the idea that I can make someone’s day better just by being myself is very rewarding.

Who have been your biggest influences/roll-models/mentors?

I don’t think I have an answer for this question. My life has been influenced by a set of experiences, some wonderful, others very difficult that I have overcome and have taught me how strong I can be. As a Colombian living outside of my country of origin I look up to Colombian women that are famous, such as Shakira and Sofia Vergara; their personalities help me understand myself a bit, in how I am outgoing and in tune with both my emotions and my body.

Why do you think you’ve become successful while others have failed trying to do the same thing you do?

I think that measuring one’s success in how many people watch your channel or how “popular” you are, are one of people’s first mistakes. I think I am successful because I have fun doing it. I take streaming seriously when I need to, but not seriously enough to let the trolls get to me. I take the same approach with streaming as I take with many things in life: I realize that there are always areas for improvement, I try and do my very best, I am humble about my achievements and I don’t have unrealistic expectations of it. I think that if there are others that have “failed” at streaming, they have other areas in their lives that they excel at.

What accomplishments are you most proud of?

Probably those that have been the most difficult. I have learned that I appreciate most those things that I have work hard for: moving out of my home country and taking care of myself, going back to university in Canada, paying for my own school. I really appreciate the feeling of independence that comes with it.

Your viewers get a lot from your stream, what do you get from streaming?

I probably get just as much as they do. I love being on camera, when I was a little girl I used to talk to myself on the mirror. I love talking in general, I have always feel the need to express my thoughts and feelings and streaming is a great opportunity for it. I get to learn something new every day from my chat, from how to say “hello” in French to what the best latest movie is. We often get into existential/political/religious discussions in chat and I try not to step on anyone’s toes and be respectful of everyone’s believes and I think I do a good job at it.

Pivotal experiences shape who we are. Can you share a life defining moment for us?

Moving to a new country on my own, new culture, new language. It gave me a completely new perspective on life. Having to take care of myself on my own gave me a lot of strength I didn’t know I had.

Thank you for the Interview Natalia!
